It’s D-day everyone! As I’m sure
you all know, today it’s the Met Gala, an event that could only be described as
the most important night in the fashion world and in general one of the most
talked about and anticipated events of the entertainment industry.
This year’s exhibition is “China
Through the Looking Glass” and it will “explore the impact of Chinese
aesthetics on Western fashion, and how China has fueled the fashionable
imagination for centuries.” The exhibition, that features more that one hundred
haute couture and ready-to-wear garments from designers like Paul Poiret, Yves
Saint Laurent, Roberto Cavalli, Alexander McQueen and John Galliano as well as
Chinese costumes, painting and porcelains, opens to the public on May 7 and
will remain open until August 16.
This year’s theme though might prove to be a
bit of a head scratcher for many of the guest. Past experiences, such as the
very loose and at times messy interpretation of the 2013’s punk theme, have shown
us that when it comes to the Met Gala’s themes no one is safe from committing a
fashion misstep (not even Anna Wintour) and countless times guest have decided
to just ignore the theme completely! Those rule breakers… we can’t help but
love them!
To help you all get in the mood for tonight here are 26 looks straight
from the red carpet that would totally work for this years theme!
